Rules imposed by councils, schools, insurers and others trying to eradicate danger are preventing youngsters learning how to handle risks, it is claimed. There are also warnings that growing restrictions on activities are exacerbating health and weight problems, and undermining children’s resourcefulness. This week youngsters were banned from riding in the Llandudno donkey derby – a highlight of children’s holidays for 40 years – after insurers said the activity was too risky."
